A great location at the heart of the Scottish capital, high standard of accommodation, exclusive branded products and exceptional service set The Knight Residence apart when it comes to self-catering accommodation in Edinburgh.

A Discerning Accommodation Experience at the Heart of Edinburgh

From first contact through to the moment we left The Knight Residence delivered the discerning accommodation experience that it promised. Duty Manager Christopher Michaels set the tone for our visit when I called to say I couldn’t find the secure private car park, which in the heart of Scotland’s capital is a luxury in itself. His calm professional manner and clear directions helped me keep my cool while navigating Edinburgh’s system of one-way streets.

On our approach to the car park, electronic gates opened in anticipation of our arrival and Christopher was there to help carry our luggage and show us to our apartment.

Choice of Apartments at The Knight Residence

One of 28 one, two or three-bedroom apartments, ours was a Superior two-bedroom apartment. Both bedrooms were spacious and easily accommodated the double, twin and the baby cot that we needed to sleep our party of two adults and three young children. Our pre-schoolers were delighted to see that their beds had activity packs and adorable mini sized teddy bears dressed in purple raincoats waiting to greet them.

In keeping with the rest of the apartment the colour scheme in the bedroom blended relaxing browns, reds, greens and creams. Warm woods, flatscreen Sony TVs with integrated DVD players and comfortable beds with crisp white sheets, plump pillows and soft duvets completed the mix. Storage space was ample with chests of drawers and wardrobes to house your clothes and other belongings.

Spacious Living Accommodation at the Knights Residence

Like the bedrooms the living accommodation was surprisingly spacious, with the combined living/dining area boasting a good-sized sofa and two comfortable armchairs. Checked fabric on one of the chairs, a bright modern print, contemporary wall and ceiling lights and curtains that swirled with colour combined to keep the decor up-to-date. While dining chairs upholstered in cream leather and a compact wooden table created a pleasant dining area, without dominating the space.

The oversized flatscreen Sony TV with hundreds of digital channels, a small stereo system and DVD player meant that our eldest (just four) wasted no time in organising a ‘cinema night’. Fortunately The Knight Residence has a well-stocked DVD library where the nominal lending charge (£1-£2) is fed back into purchasing new releases. A good sized and well-equipped kitchen also meant that we could microwave the popcorn.

Well Equipped Kitchens at The Knight Residence

The kitchen easily lived up to our needs, with a full-size cooker, slimline dishwasher, washer/dryer and even a range of kids cutlery and crockery to go alongside that catering to grown ups. Another plus was the fact that we could control the temperature in our own apartment from here, with direct access to the central heating boiler and clear instructions on how to use it.

Contemporary Bathrooms at The Knight Residence

At bathtime our daughter declared ‘mummy there is no bathmat’, but she was wrong the anti slip mat was discretely located in a cupboard under the sink. In this room the sleek white bathroom suite and powerful Mira shower were complemented by luxurious BeeKind toiletries from Gilchrist & Soames, emphasising the fact that when it comes to attention to detail and what guests need The Knight Residence really has thought it through.

Services and Amenities at The Knight Residence

Other services and amenities that helped our stay run so smoothly included complimentary wireless access and the well-stocked welcome basket complete with a range of breakfast cereals, bread, fruit juices and milk. Sachets of tea, coffee and sugar, as well as dishwasher and laundry detergent, were replenished on request by the housekeepers who serviced the apartment daily. Then of course there was that feeling that from helping us book taxis to organising days out nothing really was too much trouble in these luxurious apartments that work equally well for couples, friends, families and business people. Not many places in Edinburgh can boast that they cover so many bases.
