An estate that stretches across a whopping 50,000 acres and boasts Scotland’s largest inhabited castle, a luxury hotel and a championship golf course is something to be truly proud of. The Roxburghe Estate offers all those charms and more, with the myriad attractions all set amidst some of the most appealing scenery in the Borders.

The Treasures of Floors Castle are Manifest

Floors Castle has been open to the public since 1977 and much of it looks as it would have done when it was finished in 1721. The treasures of the interior are manifest, whilst the grounds also feature manicured gardens and their restaurant is an attraction in its own right.

Country House Hotel

The Roxburghe Hotel meanwhile is a 22 room oasis set on a quiet corner of the estate. You can enjoy a Decleor massage or just kick through the autumn leaves in the grounds, before savouring local beef in their grand dining room. Then it is time to retreat to your room for a dram by the log fire before dozing off in one of their four poster beds.

First-Rate Championship Golf Course

The Roxburghe Championship Golf Course meanwhile was only inaugurated in 1997, but already Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie have sung its praises and Sergio Garcia holds the course record. The ‘Viaduct’ may just be the most spectacular 14th hole in Scotland.
