Grant Cottage is nestled high in Glen Urquhart north of Drumnadrochit and within touching distance of the banks of Loch Ness. Considering how easy it is to get to from Inverness (around a forty minute drive) it still feels like a million miles from anywhere and firmly on the road to nowhere.

Grant Cottage Prides Itself on Being Seriously Family Friendly

Grant Cottage  prides itself on being seriously family friendly and is part of Child Friendly Cottages. Neat touches our daughters enjoyed included a decent high chair, a comfy travel cot and a surprise bag of toys, which was handy when they got bored of their own. For mums and dads there is a cosy wee wood burning stove to recline by at night and the Akeroyd’s even leave all new arrivals a bottle of wine.

Inside Grant Cottage

The cottage has one double room and one twin making it ideal for families with up to two children or two couples happy to share the space. The open plan design of the living quarters works well with the kitchen leading out on to two sofas and that log fire. The rooms are cosy with decent bed spreads with a contemporary light design feel. The shared bathroom boasts a decent size tub as well as Arran Aromatics toiletries.

Things to See and Do at Grant Cottage

Winter Walking in the Great GlenFor toddlers and babies there are those toys in the welcome bag of goodies for them to explore. For older kids there is also a selection of board games on hand. The actual croft holding is quite extensive so you can ramble down the hillside and check out the little burn that rushes through or the croft animals, which include Highland cattle, sheep and chickens.

Explore the Great Glen

It may feel remote, but Grant Cottage is well placed for checking out all the attractions of the Great Glen with settlements like Fort Augustus and Drumnadrochit to explore nearby. Head north and gorgeous Glen Affric awaits with some of Europe’s most remarkable scenery, which can best be enjoyed on a circular hike around stunning Loch Affric. Grant cottage can also organise the likes of clay pigeon shooting and pony trekking for you.
